Recently... in photos

Gwyneth will find her way to a comfortable chair, such as a sun deck lounge chair and claim her spot.
Here, she is not really going to sit here--as she sits in her high chair, for now--but she thinks she is going to.

The girls--happy strawberry noshing on fresh and ripe summer strawberries.

Katie at lunchtime enjoying her grilled cheese sandwich (with garlic powder on top, just like Mommom's).

The fish mobile was crafted at Katie's library class.

It hangs above the changing table, and when I change Gwyneth's diaper she reaches for the colorful dangling fish and says, "ish, iche."

Jumping around and dancing.  Katie in her new jumper outfit. Gwyneth has a matching one-piece, albeit quite snug on her round baby folds.

Upon Daddy's return from a recent work trip, Gwyneth gave him tight hugs and would not let go.  She gave  a multitude of kisses.  So sweet.

katie-isms

  • katie likes to play "garden my garden" with her mommy.

  • after brushing her teeth she said, "mommy, when you brush your teeth you can breathe."
  • katie fashioned her own little office under the bed, plugging in her own little night light, and playing with her toy digital laptop.
  • she put a bright yellow pail on her head and played "woody" from the movie toy story and said "hi, i am woody!  howdy, howdy, howdy!"
  • several months ago when we were at disneyland, we were wondering what renovations were being made on the matterhorn ride.   she asked, "why don't we just ask the people who live here?"

the other yesterday

both girls have been sick with colds lately.  gwynnie got it first, when i noticed she had a temperature a couple days ago.  she also had a few little red marks on her abdomen, which went away when i put some high-zinc diaper cream on them.

katie just finished eating a boiled egg, got a shower and put her pajamas on.  she had a measurement of childrens' tylenol and now is taking a well-needed nap.  gwyneth has her regular "elevensies" nap, so both girls are out in dreamland.

i thought i'd take this opportunity to jot down a few things you both have done, katie and gwyneth.

katie, as you were getting wrapped into your covers for a nap, you said "gwyneth was sick yesterday.  well, not yesterday but the other yesterday."

you love logging onto games on the kindle fire device, READING everything you can, and being 'fancy' and playing dress up.  you also love to show off your increasing talents at the piano.

a little while ago we were at disneyland and we were wondering why they were renovating the matterhorn ride.  you said we should ask someone who lives there.

gwyneth, your smiles lighten up the day.  your chubby cheeks just love to be kissed and you are keenly interested in touching and squeezing my lips and mouth, usually when you are nursing.  you are really onto a routine now, and any variation from it calls for a bit of a fit; mostly you are a calm, happy camper, though, babbling and trying out your voice with extremely high pitches.

night out at the movies

saturday night daddy and i took katie and gwyneth out to the movies.

it has been raining a little, so it was very appropriate that
singing in the rain
was playing.

we had a few treats.

Katie's latest artwork

we loved seeing a little piece of history, one of the earliest theatres, from the 1920s.

Wurlitzer organ
katie said the movie was reeeeally long, but she liked it.
since they projected old reels of a silent film first and played music
on the wurlitzer organ,
singing in the rain didn't begin until much later than the 8:15 start time
that was posted.

the girls slept really well that night.
